will you be my valentine? i have a hot date with the sun and soaking it in on this here deck. you could be the lucky one to enjoy that with me if you answer yes.
i turned 2 years old yesterday! i am a big girl now! all is good in the hood. thank you all for cheering me on!
a couple of my own photobooth favorites.
holy cuteness! we neeeeeeeeed to be friends!
after my fun in the pool, i got a massage. i was so energized from all the endorphins and movement that i couldn’t really relax. so, momma gave me my ball and let me run around the facilities with all the other recovering pooches. this is a picture from a brief moment of rest.
um, so i guess i can swim. that was news to me. this is a video from my second session at physical therapy. i have to say, i was not too sure about the whole concept on the pool. a giant bathtub with no bottom. okay, i was terrified. after some coaxing, and a big nudge, i was swimming! my therapist (in the video) and i had a great time paddling around after my ball. next session i have got to get over my fear of the dreaded water treadmill. minor meltdown in the first session while in the “tank”. but now that water and i are bff, i can’t see why i can’t make friends with the treadmill. i see another video in my future……….keep watching for updates.
soooooooo, after about a week of recovering and feeling better than before (i.e. running, jumping, sniffing and all around puppy-ness), i awoke to a huge problem on the thursday after my arthroscopy. i couldn’t bear any weight on my left hind leg! i was sick to my stomach, had the runs, was hot to the touch (fever), didn’t want to eat, and couldn’t put my leg down. my momma made me stay inside while she watched me closely for a couple hours before we took a drive to the emergency room for some peace of mind and an opinion from the vet. they discovered that i had a terrible infection in my joint. there was another surgery performed (flushing of the joint) and another night sleeping at the hospital. i was able to go back home the next day. still not using my left leg, my momma was a mess, along with myself. there were many frantic calls made to the surgeon about my progress in the days after the flushing. the doc suggested little to no activity and so far so good. it has been about 4 days since returning home and the swelling has gone down a bit and i am gradually putting weight on my leg. i have 6 weeks of antibiotics to take and a lot of resting to do. after the sutures in my left leg are removed, i will be headed to physical therapy to regain some strength and movement in my legs. please cross your fingers for me and hope for no more scares. i will give another progress report soon. lots o’ licks, slayer.
update: my surgery is over and although i chose a less invasive procedure (long story……momma will fill y’all in at a later date), i still have weeks of physical therapy to endure and a big dumb cone around my dang neck. but other than all that, i am good. i am sleeping, whining, eating and being sweet to my momma. she is currently curled up next to me, icing my knees. all is good in the hood.
this is an original watercolor by the brilliant alix soubiran. i feel special. given to me along with a donation. what a kick ass broad.
